The Kuchis are a semi-nomadic people from Afghanistan. Our Kuchi bags reflect their exuberant style of detailed embroidery, using vibrant colors and hundreds of thousands of perfect little stitches. The detail is incredible and the overall effect is fabulous. These carry bags are made of lightly padded cotton by Afghan refugee women living in Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. The highly-skilled women who make each bag are part of Zardozi, an Afghan non-profit organization. Zardozi was founded on the principle that women with income are effective agents of development. All of Zardozi's income is reinvested to create employment opportunities for women in Afghanistan. Kuchi bags measure 12"x12" with a round wooden handle, velcro closure and small interior pocket. Bag available in green or blue (specify preference in comments box at checkout).
