The vibrant stitching on these whimsical bags creates the pukhta dozi pomegranate design, a traditional design from Afghanistan. These shoulder totes are made of lightly padded cotton by Afghani refugee women living in Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. The highly-skilled women who make each bag are part of Zardozi, an Afghani non-profit organization. Zardozi was founded on the principle that women with income are effective agents of development. All of Zardozi's income is reinvested to create employment opportunities for women in Afghanistan. The colorful corner tassles flip playfully as you stroll along carrying this bag. Bag measures 14" at the base, 11" across the top, 13" tall and the nice long strap measures 39", long enough to be carried messenger style or over the shoulder. Bag closes with a magnetic closure and has one interior zipped pocket. Also available in Cranberry and Plum.
